"How can we support Mind Health and Wellbeing in 2024?"

The AXA Mind Health 2023 study (carried out jointly with Ipsos France via 16,000 Online interviews, covering 16 countries) highlights several concerning trends regarding global mind health:

🌍 General Deterioration: The Mind Health Index has worsened over the past year, indicating a decline in mental well-being among the population.

👨‍💼 Impact on Young People: Young individuals, particularly those aged 18 to 24, are disproportionately affected by mind health issues. Despite efforts to address mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic, the situation for young people has not improved and continues to deteriorate. A significant portion of this demographic is experiencing severe forms of anxiety, depression, and stress.

💪 Work-related Challenges: Many individuals in the workforce are facing mind health problems associated with their jobs, leading to disengagement. These issues cut across demographic categories such as gender, age, and socio-professional status, affecting a large portion of the working population.

💳 Individual Concerns: Financial worries and loneliness emerge as primary causes of concern at the individual level. These personal difficulties are prevalent among a significant portion of the population.

The study underscores the urgent need to prioritize mind health globally, with targeted interventions required to address the specific challenges faced by different demographic groups and in various contexts, including the workplace.

📒 This study provides yet again a clear business case for investing in and caring for employees' mind health, mental health and psychological wellbeing.

🙂 Work and the work place can have an incredibly positive role to play in supporting individuals wellbeing and mind health. Supporting an optimistic future for employees, encouraging growth and flourishing individually and as a business.
